About Me!
Hi, I’m Dennis, I love photography and enjoy shooting a wide range of subjects…

If you want to contact me, here is my email address. noonecamfan@gmail.com
California born, I have always considered Santa Barbara, my hometown. During my early childhood days, I was a military brat and we moved around every couple of years. By the time I was in junior high, (middle school for the younger folks) my parents had divorced, and I settled down in Santa Barbara with my mom and sister. Though out my school years, my elective classes were mostly photography and drafting. As it turns out, drafting played a big part in my 30 year Telecommunications career, and Photography has always been a part of my life!
Due to career choices, I left Santa Barbara after 20 years, lived in Ventura County for about 7 years and ended up in San Jose. My wife and I raised our daughter, worked, and played in the SF Bay area for about 20 years. Several years after retiring, we left the SF Bay area and my wife and I moved to the small town of Fortuna which is in Humboldt County, about 2 hours from the Oregon boarder.
When I left the telecommunications world, I used my photographic skills to supplement my income for a while. With the help of my wife Sharon, we blended another passion (classic cars) with photography and spent our weekends as “The Car Show Photographer”. During this period in life, I had also been commissioned to do some private automotive shoots, and did a short stint working with a professional studio, that specialized in school photography.
After putting in a half dozen years in the restaurant field, and 30 years in the telecommunications world, I was very close to getting full blown into a photography career. I quickly decided, starting a new career was not the path I wanted to go down. I’ve been happily retired ever since. That said, my photography is all about my personal enjoyment!
This site is here so I can share what I see through “My Hazel Eyes”!
My Gear Bag!
I started out at a young age, with an old Baby Brownie (127 film). As I grew up a bit I was given my dad’s 35mm rangefinder. After a while I traded in the range finder and bought my first new camera, a Canon AE-1 SLR. Eventually I ended up trading with my dad for his Minolta X-700 and several classic pieces of glass. The “Beer Can”(70-200) and “Secret Handshake” (28-135) had a big cult following with Minolta shooters. At some point I got dads Minolta 7000 as well. From there, I moved into digital with a Minolta DSLR. It made a lot of sense being able to use my trusty old Minolta glass in the digital world. The natural progression, was to go with Sony when they took over the camera side of Minolta. I’ve had several and currently shoot with a Sony full frame, mirrorless. Due to the lens mount change, I have become very fond of Tamron lenses which are much less expensive and excellent quality.
